High Hope Ranch: Sparrow Camp - Glen Rose (Thru Feb. 25)

Sparrow Camp, lead by Dr. Byron Stone and co-leaders of Friends of the Balcones Canyonland NWR's SparrowFest near Austin. Workshop fee includes donation to the Friends group, meals from Friday dinner/desert to Sunday breakfast, sparrow ID class, three field trips on 2 private ranchs, onsite housing also available. Early Bird Special through Jan. 31.

Native Prairies Association of Texas, Blackland Chapter: What We Learned from America's Grassland Conference - Dallas

NPAT executive director Pat Merkord will speak on what she gleaned from talks and field trips she experienced at America’s Grassland Conference held last December in Fort Worth. She will also catch us up on Mathews Prairie, issues in the Texas legislatures, and other NPAT news.

Fort Worth Audubon Society: The Land of the Maya-Birds, Archaeology, and Culture - Fort Worth

Presentation by Brock Huffman, owner and founder of Chiapas Birding Adventures, LLC, on the abundant birdlife, archaeological sites and the distinct culture in Chiapas, Mexico. Brock has co-authored 2 field guides for the Chiapas region and has implemented programs to train local birdwatching guides with the goal of preserving the Chiapas forests for our migrating birdlife; as well as contributing to an improved quality of life and social equality in Mexico by creating a financial incentive for local communities to preserve the forests.

Dallas Safari Club Protest - Dallas

1st protest will be Fri, Jan. 5 from 1-4pm. This will be the woman's hunters event. 

2nd protest will be Sat. Jan. 6,  from 1-4pm.

Posters and leaflets will be provided, but feel free to make your own. Lot parking is available within two blocks of the protest area and usually costs between $5 & $10.

This protest is being organized locally by Loki Luis with assistance from CompassionWorks International and OneProtest.org.
