Dallas-based EarthX will host its five-day conference, a top U.S. sustainability event, from April 21-25 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Aimed at pragmatic environmental solutions, it includes a free North Texas Day. The event unites diverse leaders to address sustainability and features various expert panels and discussions.

Texas Woman’s University hosts Texas Wildflower Day, celebrating its 45th year. This event emphasizes the ecological importance of native plants and pollinator habitats, offering workshops, art sessions, and tours to promote biodiversity. The TWU gardens serve as a conservation model, demonstrating urban habitat restoration's impact.

Rattlesnakes, viewed with both fear and fascination, have cultural significance but face misunderstanding and persecution. Their rattles serve as warnings, yet myths persist about their abilities and behaviors. Despite misconceptions, rattlesnakes are mostly non-aggressive and vital to ecosystems, necessitating cautious coexistence and conservation.

The Air Sensor Summit on Sept. 19 in Dallas, hosted by city partners, will discuss low-cost air sensors. It features speakers from EPA and academia. The city has installed 24 sensors through D-CAMP to supplement existing monitors, addressing local air quality concerns. The free event includes lunch.

The Arlington Conservation Council, a long-time environmental advocate, partnered with UTA in 2022 to launch an endowment supporting environmental scholarship and research. The fund, managed by UTA, supports student projects like sustainable urban planning and Vehicle to Grid technology.

The Texas Trees Foundation offers a green career training program for young adults, providing on-the-job experience in urban forestry. Founded in 1982, the Foundation’s program, supported by a Department of Labor grant, includes hybrid training focused on environmental stewardship, resulting in paid work opportunities and potential full-time employment.

The Reptile Appreciation Workshop on Aug. 3 in Garland, hosted by the North Texas Master Naturalists and Texas Parks and Wildlife, educates about reptiles' benefits and debunks myths. Experts will speak on various species, including snakes, alligators, anoles, and red-eared sliders. The workshop costs $40, including lunch.

The Trinity River Crew offers Dallas teens paid, hands-on environmental experience, focusing on restoration, data collection, and education. Launched in 2021, the program targets underserved youth, providing both economic mobility and ecological awareness through partnerships with Trinity Park Conservancy and Greenspace Dallas.

The Coppell High School Eco Club will host its first public event, the Sustainability Summit, on Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. The event, supported by the Dallas Sierra Club and Meaningful Movies Project, will feature a screening of *The Story of Plastic* and a panel discussion on plastic usage and reduction.

North Texas prairies, integral to the region, benefit from controlled fires to rejuvenate ecosystems and prevent wildfires. A workshop on Jan. 10-11 in Fort Worth aims to educate land managers on prescribed fire techniques, featuring expert speakers.
