City of FW and Texas A&M AgriLife: The Urban Orchard - Virtual

This program teaches you how to become more water-efficient in your “urban orchard,” what plants and varieties work best in our area, the basics of pest control, proper pruning methods and other practical ways to increase production. Branch out and join us for a fruitful program! Fort Worth staff will be attending the live online seminars in case you have questions pertaining specifically to Fort Worth outdoor irrigation restrictions and programs.

North Texas Master Naturalists: Applicant Open House - Dallas

An open house for the Texas Master Naturalist program. NTMN will be accepting applications for its 2020 class from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30. Please join us to gather more information on the training and our volunteer program. Master Naturalist Trainees receive in-depth education in wildlife and natural resource management, customized to focus on our local ecosystems.

Audubon Texas: Clean Energy Future, Campaign Launch - Dallas

Audubon Texas is launching an exciting community initiative in Dallas. Texas is the epicenter of the energy industry. It’s also susceptible to climate change impacts. Hurricanes, extreme heat and changes in rainfall patterns are already impacting Texans, birds and wildlife across the state - and these threats will only worsen as average global temperatures continue to rise.

Groundwork Dallas: Trinity River Clean Up Paddling Trip - Dallas

Groundwork Dallas, Dallas Downriver Club and Trinity Nature Conservancy, will lead a 5-mile trip down the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, picking up trash along the way, before landing at the Frasier Dam Recreation Area. A cookout and music will await paddlers leaving the water. 

This event, coordinated by the Dallas Downviver Club, is part of an effort by The Trinity Nature Conservancy and Groundwork Dallas to both improve the beauty of the Elm Fork, and encourage use of a newly improved paddling trail.

Time: Cleanup 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and After Party 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

T-shirt cutoff date: Aug. 29

Online Registration cutoff date: Sept. 12

After party info:

·       11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Panther Island Pavilion

·       Wristbands will be distributed at the cleanup location sites for access to the after party

Early packet pickup info:

·       Sept. 13-14, 8 a.m. to 5:30 pm at Glazer Building
