Hike with a certified Texas master naturalist every Tuesday in August. Learn all about the prairie and its significance as we identify native plants in the area, observe wildlife and talk about prairie ecology.
Learn the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and the effects stormwater has on the environment. Participants will learn how to collect and utilize rainwater at home using a variety of rainwater collection systems of all sizes. Free.

Texas tree advocates will host a storytime at the Texas Capitol to read Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax under some of the building’s historic oak trees. Following the storytime, which we anticipate will feature lawmakers and special guests reading the book, families and advocates will deliver copies of The Lorax to key Texas legislators to urge them against stripping local governments of their tree preservation rules.
Guest speaker Matt White will explain the complex interplay of flowers and grasses that make up the prairie ecosystem - once so prevalent in our area. You will learn how to restore a bit of the prairie landscape in your garden, patterned after the real thing. Free.

Follow the clues along the Chisholm Nature Trail and learn all about the Fort Worth Prairie and its significance in North Texas! Participants will enjoy a guided scavenger hunt along the 2-mile paved trail where they discover native grasses, plants and animals.
