Bird and nature walks, tree and plant identification, and more
Greg Hughes with the Fort Worth chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas will lead a walk at the Tandy Hills Park to discuss current efforts to save our prairies and to discuss recruiting volunteers for Prairiefest.
Join River Legacy as we help count birds for science and participate in fun, family-friendly bird-related crafts and activities. This event is held in conjunction with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's annual Great Backyard Bird Count. Free.
Anyone in the world can count birds at any location for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count and enter their sightings at www.BirdCount.org. The information gathered by tens of thousands of volunteers helps track changes in bird populations on a massive scale. The GBBC is a joint project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society with partner Bird Studies Canada.

The Ins and Outs of Photographing Prairies

Are you interested in learning how to take great pictures of our prairies? Chris will teach you how to do so using traditional cameras and smart phones. He will discuss both how to take the photos and what applications or other techniques may enhance your images. Chris will also share his inspiring photos from prairies near and far. It’s a “must-see” for all prairie enthusiasts, as it will be a big help as you document the prairies you know and love and also the ones that you may discover.
One day a year, Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area with help from the City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Dept. hosts a Brush Bash to clear sections of the prairie of invasive and unwanted trees, brush and trash.
The brush has been cut and will be ready for volunteers to drag to waiting trucks for delivery to a composting facility. Your help really makes a difference! Manly Men and Wild Women welcome.

For more than a thousand years, pilgrims have walked the Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied du Port in France, over the Pyrenees mountains, and across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostella to the Cathedral of St. James. The 480-mile trek is usually covered in a little over one month. While originally a religious pilgrimage, it has become an adventure destination for over two hundred thousand pilgrims a year from around the world. Free.
