Native Prairie Association of Texas, Blackland Chapter: Daphne Prairie and Mt Vernon Tour - Celeste

Immerse yourself in a wonderful prairie at the junction of the Blackland and Post Oak savannah ecoregions. This will be a fall tour of Daphne Prairie, featuring opportunities to see festive Mt. Vernon and other aspects of the life and history of the region. 

8 a.m. - Metroplex folks will meet at the White Rock Lake Bathhouse in Dallas to carpool and head east

8:30 a.m. - Depart Dallas

Fort Worth Audubon Society: Birding Scavenger Hunt - Arlington

This is a “bragging rights” competition, so bring your team, or bring yourself and you’ll be assigned to a team. Everyone needs to meet at 6:45 a.m. in the parking lot in front of Al's Hamburgers. Please call or text FWAS Scavenger Hunt leader Paula Channell ahead of time at 817-405-8132 to let her know who all is coming, and to ask questions if needed. There are no participation limits, and non-members as well as FWAS members are welcome. Team groups will depart from the parking lot at 6 a.m.

Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: End of Summer Day Hike - Fort Worth

We will hike approximately 4-5 miles on a hilly trail. Meet at 7:30 a.m. sharp at the Service Center parking lot inside the Fort Worth Nature Center. After you enter the refuge and pay your entrance fee at the entrance booth, please take the first road to the right to reach the service center. A map is available from the entrance attendant, too. Park on the left side of the service center parking lot near the fence.

Directions:

From Dallas take 635 to I20 to FM 740 (Forney)

Go south (right) on FM 740 to FM 2757 (immediately past service road)

Take a left on 2757

Then go to Kelly Rd, which will be the first road on the right (about 1.6 miles down on FM 2757).

On Kelly rd, Go 6/10 of a mile (((((measure 6/10 or you will miss it)))))

and take a left on a no name road.

There will be a land for sale sign, and then a no trespassing sign.
