Fort Worth Nature Center: Making Sense of Winter - Fort Worth

Winter is the perfect time of year to use your senses of sight, smell and hearing to experience nature at its fullest. Although many plants are dormant and animals may be hibernating, there are still signs of activity from the animal kingdom. We will take a hike and use our observation skills to spot wildlife that may be active this time of year. Bring a notepad, pencil and camera if you have one. Good walking shoes and water are recommended. Free (with paid admission).

Fort Worth Nature Center: New Year's Resolution Hike - Fort Worth

Start your year off right with an invigorating 2.5 mile hike guided by a staff naturalist on the most scenic segment of the beautiful Canyon Ridge Trail. Our route will be moderately challenging with several changes in elevation. Bring water and dress for the weather. We’ll meet at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center and carpool/caravan to the trailhead. Free (with paid admission).

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center: Wetland Book Discovery: 'Beyond Ecophopia' - Seagoville

Join us as we discuss David Sobels Book "Beyond Ecophobia." Author David Sobel states: "What’s important is that children have an opportunity to bond with the natural world, to learn to love it before being asked to heal wounds." This book speaks to those who wish to nurture children in the ability to understand and care deeply for nature.

The book will be discussed Jan. 17 & Feb. 21.

Members need not wait for the presentation to help TPWD. They are soliciting bobcat (and other carnivore) sightings using Inaturalist-a website similar to EBird but it allows you to document all plant and animal sightings at www.inaturalist.org/projects/dfw-carnivores
