The Texas Historic Tree Coalition has announced the newly-awarded historic status of “The Bouldin Live Oak.” The tree is named for Dr. Hammond Bouldin, who settled on the site in 1889. He practiced medicine in the community of Old Lawn, which was nearby. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Bouldin actively farmed and ranched on his 1,238 acre tract. He served in the Confederate States of America as a doctor. Dr.
This month we will be working on our Butterfly and Wildflower beds, and clearing privet stumps.Come join us for all or part of the morning, the weather promises to be wonderful for working outdoors! Please bring your favorite shovel, privet pulling or gardening tools, work gloves or litter picker upper. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and for working in a natural area (long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes, hat). Water and snacks will be provided.

Amy Martin, author of Itchy Business: How to Treat the Poison Ivy and Poison Oak Rash, Prevent Exposure and Eradicate the Plant, will share her deep knowledge gleaned from 12 years working in wildlife habitat management in this subversively funny talk for the Dallas chapter of Native Plant Society of Texas.

The Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge is a hidden jewel, a wilderness comprised of forests, prairies and wetlands reminiscent of how much of the Metroplex once looked.
Under the guidance of NANPA member David Morgan, this outing will explore the Indigo Buntings, Painted Buntings, Prothonotary Warblers and FWNC's rich bird life, as well as prairie dogs (hopefully with pups), buffalo and more. Meet at the Front Gate at 7:30 a.m. Gate opens at 8 a.m.
Arthropods Among Us: Join us as we hike to explore the incredible diversity of sometimes unseen and forgotten arthropods. We’ll take a close look at the unique, unusual and most often beneficial insects that we have around us. Be prepared for some close-up explorations. Free with paid admission $2-$5.
