Keep Arlington Beautiful - National Trails Day Celebration

Since 1993, National Trails Day has inspired thousands of individuals and community groups to take part in activities that promote healthy living and mental well being, protect green spaces, educate the community on the importance of trails and instill excitement for the outdoors.

On Saturday, June 4, the City of Arlington, in conjunction with Keep Arlington Beautiful, will join in the nationwide effort to celebrate National Trails Day by hosting various park cleanup events.

The theme for National Trails Day 2011, Made with All Natural Ingredients, encourages all Americans to get outside and get active. "Dedicated volunteers, outdoor enthusiasts, trail lovers, and those new to the outdoors are truly the key ingredients to National Trails Day.

Park clean-ups will take place on June 4 from 9am to 12pm at the following city parks: Bowman Branch Linear Park Marrow Bone Spring Lynn Creek Linear Park River Legacy Parks Fish Creek Linear Park OS Gray Natural Area Bob Findlay Linear Park OW Fannin Natural Area Sublett Creek Linear Park Julia Burgen Park Parkway Central Park

Summer Natural History Adventures - Ft Worth

 

The Fort Worth Nature Center is proud to offer the 2011 Summer Natural History Adventures.  

We offer exciting and educational day camps for children entering Kindergarten up to those entering the 8th grade.  One day a week, each age group will explore a different natural history theme such as reptiles, insects, butterflies and more!  The camps take place during June and July. 

Brazos River Canoe Trips

$250 members | $300 non-members


Spend two days paddling and one night camping as your guides share about the flora, fauna and geology of this scenic river. Paddling equipment and meals included. Minimum Age: 12 years *


Program Dates:

May 6-8, 2011
    --  Friday night, May 6: Equipment check and drop off and safety meeting at the Heard SRC building
    --  Saturday, May 7: Depart the Heard at 8am

    --  Sunday, May 8: Return to the Heard at 8pm

Heard Summer Nature Camps - McKinney

Remember those days of kids enjoying the outdoors during summer? Perhaps it was even you!

An amazing season of Heard summer camps awaits! Kids ages 5-14 will enjoy the summer months as they get an in-depth education indoors and outdoors on our 289-acre sanctuary. General information is available below. More details coming soon!

Nature Camps

Explore the wonders of the outdoors! Campers will take daily nature walks on our 289-acre sanctuary, get up close and personal with our education animals, and investigate different nature-themed topics every day. Campers aged 5-9 years have two different themed camps to pick from — experience one or both camps for a variety of age-appropriate lessons and activities.

Eco-Explorers is specially designed for campers aged 10-12 years. Time 9:30am—2:30pm | Tuition $210/members, $235/non-members | Dates sessions vary by camp

TRAC Summer Camps - Dallas

For Kids entering K - 5th grade $198/child for members ($220 for non-members)

Experience summer fun and learning at Trinity River Audubon Center. Our summer camps are like none other nestled in the Great Trinity Forest, we offer a 120-acre outdoor classroom and a state-of-the-art nature center along the Trinity River just 8 minutes from downtown Dallas.

At Audubon Summer Camp, your children will be outside, enjoying hands-on learning and exploring the wonders of nature.  We’ll hike, study wildlife,
learn outdoor skills, create nature art, and conduct field experiments while learning more about our amazing north Texas home. Our experienced and
caring educators will nurture your child’s love of nature, while having lots of fun in the great outdoors.

Summer at the Science Center - Arlington

Summer adventures at River Legacy Living Science Center provide students with an exciting hands-on, minds-on opportunity to explore the natural world.

* A variety of weeklong programs in June and July offer children engaging ways to learn about wildlife, ecology and the environment.

* Age-appropriate curriculums benefit preschool children through 8th grade.

* All classes feature investigations both inside the Living Science Center and outdoors in the rich resources of River Legacy Parks.

* Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis.

* Children should come dressed for both indoor and outdoor explorations. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended. For more information, call 817.860.6752.

Canoe Fest - Ft Worth

Independent canoeing and kayaking on the quiet waters around Greer Island. Canoes/kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Children must be 5 years or older and accompanied by an adult. First come, first served. Meet at Greer Island. $5 plus admission, $3/members plus admission.

FlowFest Southwest - Dallas

An eco-conscious springtime festival designed to inspire every-BODY to move, play, integrate, breath deep, and learn through pleasure, a myriad of experiential movement modalities from yoga to tai chi o ecstatic dance, are offered to make joyful embodied living accessible and inviting to folks of all ages & all walks of life.
