Fishing Camp (10-15 yrs) - Plano

Kids ages 10-15 will learn basic fishing techniques at this week-long camp. Instructor will teach how to tie a hook, handle fish, and remove a fish from the hood. Students will also learn the proper way to cast a bait caster reel and will discover what types of baits to use in different situations. The camp will spend time reviewing fishing safety standards. Campers will venture to area lakes to develop basic fishing skills. Students will need to bring their own fishing gear, bait, a sack lunch, and drink every day. $65. Monday-Friday, June 13-17, 8am-1pm.

Summer Camp Wilderness Expedition (12-17 yrs) - Plano

Join us as we hike, camp and backpack along the Little Missouri River through Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas. The three days will be packed with adventure from hiking along the trail, crossing numerous rivers, and climbing high rock bluffs. Basic survival skills and fire-making will be taught. All camping gear, transportation, and meals are included. Trip will be conducted by Frisco Wilderness Adventures & Outfitters. $170. Mandatory trip meeting at 6pm, Monday, August 8 at Liberty Recreation Center, 2601 Glencliff Dr, Plano, 75075.

Museum of Nature & Science is pleased to present a special preview screening of the upcoming Emmy-winning PBS Series Saving the Bay, followed by a panel discussion about local water issues in Dallas. This free event will be held in MNS's TI Founders IMAX® Theater in the Science Building.

How to Attend
Although this event is free to the public, space is limited. Please arrive on time to claim your seat. Reservations are not available.

The Film
Saving the Bay is scheduled to be broadcast nationally on PBS in prime time to coincide with Earth Week beginning Wednesday evening April 20, 2011 and continuing the next three Wednesday evenings through May 11th. When the series premiered in two parts on KQED/San Francisco October 8, 2009, it had the single highest rating of any PBS program in the nation the evening of its initial broadcast. Saving the Bay received four regional Emmy awards including for Best Documentary in May, 2010.

Earth Day Dallas - 2011

Earth Day Dallas hopes to catalyze a "green" movement in North Texas by staging a two-day event on April 22nd and 23rd over several city blocks in the Dallas Arts District.  We anticipate 500 civic, corporate and non-profit participants engaged in an event that will be the biggest and best Earth Day celebration in this part of the United States.  Sponsors currently include:
