Texas TurtlePalooza - Dallas

Come out of your shell and make your way down to the Trinity River Audubon
Center for a free, fun-filled family event, Texas TurtlePalooza- Saturday,
June 4th, 10am to 2pm.

Turtles are some of the oldest and most beautiful creatures on our amazing
planet. Around since the time of the dinosaurs, they’ll only survive the
threats they face today with our help. Fascinating and beautiful turtle
species share our Texas home; we will highlight ways in which we can all
play a part in helping ensure their survival.

Meet different turtle species up close. Learn to identify and count Texas
turtles through “Texas Turtle Watch”, a citizen science program. Enjoy talks

The Key to Plant ID - Dallas

Plant “keys” are one of the best ways to identify and learn plant species,
but they can be tricky to use. Practice using a key to identify the many
vines at Trinity River Audubon Center, then go into the field to practice
tree identification with a plant key.

This program is free, but RSVP’s are required; please contact Dana Wilson,
dwilson@audubon.org or 214-309-5850.

Both of these events will be held at the Trinity River Audubon Center
(www.trinityriveraudubon.org)

4th of July Bus Trip to the South San Juan Wilderness

Jun 29-Jul 5 (Wed-Tue) Fourth of July Bus Trip to the South San Juan Wilderness, Southwest Colorado

The San Juan Mountains have been called “America's Switzerland.” A segment of this link in the Continental Divide was designated "South San Juan Wilderness" in 1980. U-shaped glacial valleys, rocky rivers, high green meadows, aspens, elk herds and beaver dams make this remote and scenic wilderness a summer delight for backpackers. Click here to see a complete description of the trip with pictures, maps and registration information. Five hike options are described. This is a new destination for a Dallas Sierra Club trip; reserve early to guarantee a space. Bus trip leader: Mark Stein 214-526-3733
