Abraham Lincoln said "The greatest fine art of the future will be the making of a comfortable living from a small piece of land." A hundred and fifty years later, with the growing popularity of urban gardening, his words appear to ring true. As part of that trend, more schools are teaching students the value of growing your own food, including one DeSoto elementary magnet school.

We asked two major grocery stores, Albertsons and Tom Thumb, which are owned by the same parent company, and HEB/Central Markets, for the scoop.  

State program offers help for high polluting cars

A state program offers financial assistance to repair or replace high-emitting vehicles to meet emissions standards. Eligible vehicle owners may receive vouchers up to $600 for repairs or $3,500 for replacements, based on income and registration criteria in specific counties, aiming for cleaner air.
