Women in the Environment: John Bunker Sands Wetlands Tour - Fort Worth

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center’s mission is to both educate the public and provide research opportunities in the areas of water quality and supply, wildlife management and wetland systems. 

WE will tour a section of property. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing. A light lunch will be hosted by Tricia Holderman at her home next door after the tour. Cost: Free/members, $5/nonmembers. For carpool information, call 214-340-0117.

Trinity River Action Coalition: Planning to Oppose Tollroad Inside Dallas Levee System - Dallas

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the actions we can take to oppose building a tollroad inside the Dallas levee system.   

We will review the following:

our meeting schedule and location for the next 4 months;

our position and comments on the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Trinity Toll Road; and

a membership form for those interested in joining our coalition.

 The Trinity River Action Coalition (TRAC) is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was formed in 1991 by a coalition of civic and environmental groups and individuals that joined together to benefit the human and natural habitats along the Trinity River corridor and its tributaries.  

During the next three months, TRAC’s general meeting meetings are at 7 p.m. on May 7, June 11 and July 9. Beginning in Aug. 14, TRAC will begin meeting at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. TRAC sponsors a hike or other activity on the fourth Saturday of the month.

Texas A&M AgriLife: Rain Water University - Dallas

Rainwater harvesting is a viable alternative water source for your landscape, garden, livestock, firefighting and both indoor non-potable and potable uses. Rainwater University will have presentations and hand on training from rainwater harvesting experts from around the country. From constructing a 55-gallon rain barrel or small home system; designing and installing large commercial rainwater collection systems above and below ground; understanding how to irrigate from your cistern. City of Arlington: Water Efficient Property Mgmt - Arlington

This program will give property managers techniques on implementing indoor water conservation, drip irrigation, new water conserving technologies, cycle and soak, lawn care during drought or water restrictions, proper plant selection, foundation watering, tree watering, and irrigation scheduling. This class is intended for property managers associated with homeowner associations, apartment complexes and large commercial properties but is also open to the public. Patrick Dickinson, Urban Water Program Coordinator with Texas A&M AgriLife Research, will be the speaker. Free.
