Sustainable Salon - Rockwall

What does a sustainable life look like, feel like, taste like?

How can we go forward with sustainability in our lives--whether it is with giant steps like an ecovillage, baby steps in a city/suburb, or something in between?

How does sustainability start, then grow, and finally reach a tipping point where it spreads to others?

Although led by Patricia Allison, long-time Permaculture teacher, founder of Earthaven Ecovillage, and consultant to our ecovillage east of Rockwall, this is a participatory meeting. We will split up in different groups, all move from table to table--talking about one particular part of sustainability, then move on to talk about another.

This was Patricia's suggestion rather than a dinner. And it sounds great to me! We will start at 6:30 and will provide snacks if the venue makes it possible.

And speaking of venues, please don't forget: Any suggestions about where to meet in this area will be welcome to me as a newcomer.

DFW Greenweavers Meeting - Dallas

We will be meeting in the private building behind the main building. (Times Ten II)

DFW Greenweavers is a power group of local, sustainable businesses that have been operating in the Metroplex as experts in their given Green fields.

$1/person plus food/drinks.

When people arrive you will be broken into three groups:

1) Home and Buildings

2) Food and Gardening

3) Health and Lifestyle

The first part of the meeting will be spent socializing with the people in your industry. There has been a great response from people spending time with others that are in their given fields.

After that you will draw a business card from the hat. You will then have a 5 minute 1-1 with that person and you will be giving their 30 second commercial! This was a HUGE success last time. Lots of FUN!

Upgrading Trails at Cedar Ridge Preserve - Dallas

Upgrading Trails and Walking at Cedar Ridge Preserve

Howdy everyone. Its fun and its helpful to get out to the Cedar Ridge Preserve to help upgrade some of the beautiful walking trails just south of Dallas. It's a great morning workout, and the scenery is exceptional. No tools are required, (maybe gloves) just show up and be ready to lend a hand or two. We'll work from 9 AM to 12 or earlier, and then walk around the preserve and admire the wildflowers and fauna! Bring some water for sure.

Please see their website at www.audubondallas.org/cedarridge.html  for directions and info. Their number is 972-709-7784   See you then!

If you wish to carpool, then let me know, and we'll arrange a meeting spot. Come on out, the fall colors will be in full force!

Trip rated: Easy.
