Dallas Arboretum: Memorial Day Weekend Activities - Dallas

In honor of our armed forces, there will be flags and patriotic music in the gardens along with free admission all four days for all active and retired military personnel with valid photo ID. In Pecan Grove, kids can enjoy a petting zoo and face painting, and on Monday, May 26, $1 hotdogs, popcorn and fried pies will be offered. This weekend of patriotic celebration will conclude with two free Eddie Coker concerts on Monday at 11am and 2pm.

UU Church of Oak Cliff: Environmental folk singer Andrew McKnight - Dallas

Andrew McKnight left his corporate environmental engineering career in 1996 and became an award-winning folk and Americana artist. McKnight has long advocated for preservation of American landscapes and heritage and often shares his talents to help with such programs as those for mental health and elderly care and from a California at-rich youth program to a Seattle food bank and a Massachusetts community radio station.

Opening for McKnight is Emmeline, a pint-sized singer/songwriter from Dallas who revels in big words, unconventional cords, and persistent melodies.
