Join the Collin County Master Gardeners for Edible Gardening 101. Master Gardeners will be presenting the following topics:

• Garden Planning and Raised Beds

• Soil Preparation

• North Texas Vegetable Gardening Tips

• Weird and Wonderful Edible Plants

During the mid-morning break, please take the opportunity to visit the following demonstration tables: CCMGA Information, Texas Pure Products, Irrigation, Container Gardening, Pollinators, Raised Bed Construction, Insects/Diseases, Berries and Greenhouse Gardening

Wicking beds are a unique and increasingly popular way to grow vegetables. They are self-contained raised beds with built-in reservoirs that supply water from the bottom up - changing how, and how much, you water your beds. Wicking beds can often be pricey however, we will demonstrate how to build a wicking bed out of repurposed material.

Dual instruction will cover mycorrhizal fungi, its benefits and applications in gardening, and making your own biodegradable seed starting pot using only organic veggie seeds. Great way to get a kick start on your spring veggie garden.

The time to start planting your spring and early summer vegetable gardens is now! From starting tomato and pepper seeds indoors, to sewing carrots, beets and spinach in the ground outside, January and February are the months in which you can really get the jump on a healthy and productive spring garden.

Join us for a 1.5 hour walk to practice tree ID and anticipate the soon-to-come wildflower season. A template for identifying trees will be provided, so if you like to take notes, bring a pen and clipboard.

1.5 hours advanced training for Master Naturalists

Organics are natural, safe, and effective. Come learn everything you could want to know about getting started with organics in your lawn and garden! We will talk about what it means to use organics, from pest control to fertilization and everything in between.
