We’re looking for volunteers to help plant trees on Reforestation Day. We’ll meet at the Clinton Pocket Park at Clinton Street and Jefferson Boulevard in the morning, and work in teams to plant trees. We ask that volunteers bring shovels, rakes, gloves, etc.
Gardening in containers is a great way to grow your horticulture skills. If you have a small yard or patio that needs a pop of ornamental color, are frustrated with the poor soils on your property, or just simply don’t have the space to grow your fruits and veggies, then give container gardening a try. This class will also focus on creating beautiful containers for the holidays.

Whether reclaiming a garden or bed from weeds or creating a new garden or bed in established turf, the simplest, least labor intensive, most effective method is sheet mulching. Learn the basics and the details so that it will work for you and look great in the process.

City of McKinney Environmental Education has partnered with eight cities and five agencies to host a free gardening event for newcomers to the area and gardening newbies. The Newcomers Guide to Gardening in North Texas event was designed with the “transplant” or gardening “newbie” in mind.
Volunteers need to help us with gardens at Clear Creek. This may include some weeding, tilling, planting and possibly some harvesting. RSVP.

Learn about the Texas Master Naturalist program. The North Texas Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist Program is accepting applications for its 2019 class. Master Naturalist Trainees receive in-depth education in wildlife and natural resource management, customized to focus on our local ecosystems. In return, Master Naturalists provide volunteer service in the form of community education, conservation, citizen science, and demonstration projects, while pursuing advanced training in areas of their special interests.
