Tour of eight area home gardens and wineries.

Advance tickets are $20, and will be available online beginning March 16 at www.celinagardenclub.org, for pickup starting at 8 a.m. on tour day in Celina’s historic downtown square, near Walnut and Ohio Streets. Same-day tickets may also be purchased there for $25.

Tickets will also be sold at four area retailers: Annie Jack, 222 W. Walnut St., Celina; D&L Farm and Home, 811 N. Louisiana Drive, Celina; Texas Seasons Nursery, 807 N. Preston Road, Celina; and Cristina’s Stone & Garden Center, 14400 Preston Road, Frisco.

Marshall Grain Co., which features organic gardening and pet care, is commemorating the 10th anniversary of its Grapevine location with a special day-long celebration. The party will feature several free gardening talks, vendor give-aways, pet adoptions, refreshments and merchandise specials.

Chefs Misti Noris, Peja Kristic and Joel Orsini will be delivering a NOLA style experience on the patio. Roasted pig from Chubby Dog Farms and crawdads are on the menu. There will be beer, wine and music as we gather to celebrate community and lovely locally sourced food. Profound Foods and POP Gardens will bring the freshest ingredients to the table for the Chefs to prepare and for you to savor! 

Heather Bass, botanist and native landscaping consultant at BRIT, will provide an overview of lessons learned about successful native plant establishment and maintenance during three research projects looking at a native prairie restoration, a native prairie creation, and establishing sustainable urban pollinator gardens.

In this active hands on workshop, learn the basics of identifying bare trees with Suzanne Tuttle, plant ecologist and former manager of the Fort Worth Nature Refuge. 

With nearly three decades of experience with Texas flora, Tuttle will take you on a field experience that will "leave" you in the know about LLELA Nature Preserve's section of the Eastern Crosstimbers!  

This event is free with your $5 per vehicle paid entry into LLELA.

Due to the widespread loss of natural habitat, there is an acute need to include native plants in our landscapes to mitigate their scarcity in the wild. Native plants provide for the insect diversity necessary to maintain our bird and pollinator populations, as well as other aspects of a healthy ecology. This class illustrates the wealth of Texas plant species and the myriad of unique and beautiful plants we have to choose from.

Come learn how to garden without synthetic fertilizers and harmful pesticides. Organic gardening is fundamentally different from traditional methods. Organics nurture the soil and help it absorb and retain moisture longer which reduces the need for water and fertilization. Joyce Connelley, of Marshall Grain, will also instruct participants how to prevent weeds without using toxic chemicals.
