Native Prairies Association of Texas, Blackland Chapter: Cedar Ridge Preserve Workday - Dallas

We will help restore a Blackland Prairie parcel that has had no attention since the 1990s. Volunteers will plant 250 one-gallon pots of native grasses and forbs. Jobs include moving plants, digging holes, prepping soil, planting and watering. Wear long pants and hiking boots. Hats and sunglasses recommended. Bring a water bottle and insect repellent.

Promise of Peace: Fall Harvest Dinner - Dallas

Fundraiser for POP Community Gardens, which is entering its ninth year. The nonprofit has expanded two of its gardens in East Dallas and quadrupled production. Chefs that will be cooking a four course meal with local produce: Chef Janice Provost of Parigi, Chef Anastacia Quinones of Oddfellows and Okrapalooza 2017 Champion, Chef Daniel Pittman of Luck, Chef Keith Cedotal and Chef Acenette Gonzalez of the Mirador, and Chef Katherine Clapner of Dude Sweet Chocolate. $70.

Trinity Valley Beekeepers Association: So You Think You Want Bees - Dallas

"So You Think You Want Bees" is a two-part Fall/Winter class presented by Trinity Valley Beekeepers Association designed to help inform a prospective urban beekeeper about everything they need to know in considering beginning their beekeeping adventure next spring. 

Part 1 (Oct. 9) of this class will cover reasons to want to keep bees, concerns and considerations, time/space/monetary investment, working with neighbors, as well as local and state regulations. 

Great Seed Bomb: Wildflower Workshops - Dallas (Thru Dec. 9)

Join The Great Seed Bomb as it rolls across Dallas, Tx with a series of free wildflower seedball workshops from Nov. 11 - Dec. 9!. Participants and volunteers will learn how to source materials and manufacture seedballs by hand and with a tumbler, get acquainted with Dallas' urban farm and conservation leaders on their own turf, and practice their new seedball making skills with materials that will be used to jumpstart a pocket prairie along the Trinity Forest Trails.

Dallas Sierra Club: Wildflowers of North Texas & Cacti and Succulents - Farmers Branch

Learn about our area's native wildflowers and also about cacti and succulents from two speakers with colorful photos. Carol Clark will take you on a virtual tour of native wildflowers, past and present. And Irwin Lightstone will talk about cacti and succulents, and how they should play an increasingly prominent role in landscaping our exteriors and interiors.

Bonton Farms: Farm to Table Dinner - Dallas

Join us for a night under the stars at the Bonton Farms Extension with fresh ingredients from the farm prepared by local Chef Justin Box. The meal will be paired with stories of transformation from friends and neighbors whose lives have been impacted through this work. We'll cap the night off with live music by the Stoneleighs, covering our favorite songs from the Rolling Stones!

Trinity Haymarket: Oak Cliff Coop Snoop - Dallas

Trinity Haymarket hosts the 3rd Annual Oak Cliff Coop Snoop to benefit F.A.R.M. (Farmers Assisting Returning Military). Enjoy a fun and entertaining day visiting 8 unique backyard chicken coops throughout various neighborhoods in Oak Cliff. Maps are $10 per adult and can be purchased the day of the tour at Trinity Haymarket.

The small farmer supply store will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 4. Limited edition Oak Cliff Coop Snoop T Shirts for sale as well.
