Black Vegetarian Society: Film Screening 'The Invisible Vegan' - Dallas

An acclaimed new documentary explores why many in the African American community are embracing a plant-based lifestyle.

Joining us for this event will be Jasmine Leyva, who is featured in the film and is one of its directors as well. After the screening, Jasmine will speak briefly and participate in a Q and A session.

The film will start at 4 p.m. Vegan munchies will also be available for purchase from DeSoto African American owned restaurants.

Good Local Markets: Lakewood Village Opening Day - Dallas

Kick off of Good Local Markets' new location in Lakewood. The venue features local farmers, ranchers, beekeepers, bakers, makers and artisans each Sunday at the Lakewood Village Farmers Market.

All vendors come from 150 mile radius of Dallas and are required to grow or make what they sell at market! Good Local Markets staff even visits each farm and ranch to ensure locally grown. No reselling, no distributors, just all local produce

4th annual event. Trawick Pavilion offers basketball, sand volleyball, lake access for swimming, a children's playground, and more! 

Your payment includes vegan burgers & hot dogs and helps pay the fee for reserving the pavilion.

Bring a vegan dish. You’ll be prompted to sign up for a potluck item after you submit payment for the event.

$6/adult ($8 after 4/12) and $4/children 4-17 ($6 after 4/12), and children 3 and under get in free.

Marshall Grain: Small Space Organic Gardening - Grapevine

Learn how to make the best use of limited spaces inside and outside your apartment, condo or other tight areas. Almost any sunny spot can serve as a small garden - including your kitchen, bathroom or even a bedroom. We’ll discuss space saving techniques such as “trellising,” hanging baskets and wall mounted grow boxes, as well as traditional containers. We’ll also teach organic growing basics including planting, fertilizing and harvesting.
