Native Plant Society of Texas, Trinity Forks Chapter: The Texas Wine Industry - Denton

Michael Cook, the viticulture program specialist for North Texas with the Texas A&M AgriLife, will discuss “The Texas Wine Industry - from Grape to Glass. ” about how the Texas Wine Industry has evolved and what the future holds for grapes and wine in the Lone Star State. Further discussion will include the life cycle of a grapevine and the challenges associated with growing grapes in Texas.

Botanical Research Institute of Texas: Native American Plant Use - Fort Worth

Take a walk around the BRIT campus with Dr. Grace Bascopé, BRIT resident research associate and medical and environmental anthropologist, to learn about which and how plants were used by the First Peoples of the North Central Texas area. She will also discuss archaeological research carried out right around BRIT. Dr. Bascopé will show you the First Peoples Demonstration Garden and discuss how Native Americans and others optimize water conservation in their gardens in this dry region.
