Visitors can hike at the Meadow Preserve at the monthly open house. Enter at Wooded Gate on east side of Alma, south of Bethany. Free.
Learn basic birding techniques on this guided hike where participants can see up to 30-plus species. Bring binoculars, field guides, sunscreen and insect repellent. Wear long pants, closed-toed shoes. All ages welcome.
Guided 1.5-mile night walk. Bring a flashlight and binoculars or spotting scope. Meet at the Suncreek Park circular parking lot down the road from Connemara Meadow at 9pm sharp. A Winter Solstice Celebration with entertainment and ceremonies of various cultures will occur simultaneously throughout the evening both indoors and out will be presented by the Labyrinth Walk Coffee House. Free. Donations accepted. Bring a canned good or clothing item for the needy.

Parents: Finish up your Christmas shopping, wrap presents or just enjoy a few quiet hours alone. Bring your children to the Activity Center where they will spend the day making, buying and wrapping Christmas presents for their families and friends. It will help if they have a list of people they want to give gifts to. We will also have a store with novelty items they can purchase anywhere from $1-$5. Pizza, drinks and dessert will be provided. Award ceremony for Arlington Conservation Council's photo contest. Photographs from the Focus Contest are now on exhibit at River Legacy Living Science Center in the Riparian Viewing Room, located in the far back of the Center's exhibit hall until Jan. 1, 2014.
Attendees are invited to join the ACC's meeting and potluck following the ceremony.
