River Legacy Living Science Center: National Trails Day - Arlington

River Legacy Living Science Center is hosting two guided hikes at 10 am to celebrate National Trails Day. A family friendly hike will explore the nature trails surrounding the Science Center for an easy 30- to 45-minute hike. An extended adult hike will explore the trails further into River Legacy Parks for a 1 1/2 to 2-hour long hike. Both hikes are free, but space is limited in each. RSVP: 817-860-6752.

City of Irving: Bike Fest - Irving

Kick off Bike to Work Week by attending Irving’s Annual Bicycle Fest at its new location.

Join in the activities with a group ride, Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo, visit with vendors that specialize in bicycling information and equipment, receive an “on-the-spot” bike check and see unique cycling groups and more.

Performing at the 2015 Bike Fest:

Don’t miss Boxcar Bandits, a musical group that melds bluegrass, old-time, western swing and country with the sounds of string band instruments to create their signature Skunkgrass sound.

Botanical Research Institute of Texas: Prairie Day - Fort Worth

The family-friendly, annual festival of arts and crafts features flight demonstrations of majestic wild birds and live music from Texas musicians. Families will learn about hardy Texas native plants that grow on the prairie. Children will learn how to build a bug house or paint using leaves, and everyone will learn about the cultural and natural history that defines our region through activities and games for the whole family.
