Make Dad’s day extra special with a make and take craft for Father’s Day prepared just by you. We will provide the materials; all you need to do is bring your imagination as you design the perfect gift for him. This program is for children of all ages and their adult companion. Plan to spend 15 - 30 minutes preparing the perfect DIY craft. Free (with paid admission).
Designer coops? Daily fresh free-range eggs? City chickens are definitely in right now. Bring the barnyard to your backyard with the always-entertaining John Ramos from Urban Chicken Ranching. In this kid-friendly camp, kids will venture outdoors, study nature, do arts and crafts, and embark on exploration hikes. Fun hands-on activities will teach kids about: Aquatic Ecosystems, Texas Eco Regions, Insects & Spiders, Fish & Mammals, Birds & Reptiles, Animal Tracks, Native Plants, Amphibians and more. The annual event focuses on fresh flowers and produce grown in Denton County. Any county resident may enter, and there is no entry fee. All entries will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. on the day of the show in two divisions: youth ages 18 and under and adults over 18. Contestants may enter as many classes as they like but only one entry per class.
The contest focuses on best of species, and entries will be judged between 10 and noon. Fruits and vegetables will be judged on flavor, and each entry must include a sufficient in number to fill a dinner plate, which will be provided. Herb and flower entries are restricted to a single species. Both potted and cut flowers and herbs will be accepted. At noon, ribbons will be awarded for the top three entrants in each class. Division Champions and Best in Show winners receive rosettes and a cash prize.
