Enjoy a bit of canoeing/kayaking on your own on the quiet waters around Greer Island. Canoes/kayaks, paddles and lifejackets provided. Children in canoes must be 5 years or older and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Kayakers must be at least 18 years old. Parents must sign a liability waiver for minor children. NO REGISTRATION NEEDED. FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED. Greer Island gate will open at 11
a.m. Meet at Greer Island. $5 (with paid admission)/MEMBERS $3.

If you are a bird that frequents the Lotus Marsh, you must be well equipped. It can get really mucky and difficult to navigate. If you are hunting fish, you must be quick and have the proper tools to catch them. Join us today as we discuss a group of birds that have what it takes to survive at the Lotus Marsh. We will discuss the natural history of egrets and herons. We will then take a quick trip down to the Boardwalk and
check out these highly adaptive birds. FREE (with paid admission).

Come and join us for a different type of Canoe Tour in the evening hours. This program will present new opportunities like hearing beavers slap the water with their tails and seeing other wildlife, like deer and raccoons. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are provided.
Children must be 5 years or older. Parents must sign a liability waiver for minor children. Some previous experience recommended. Registration ends Tuesday preceding or when filled. Maximum - 12 participants. Meet at Big River Parking Lot. Pre-registration required. $20 (includes admission)/MEMBERS $15.
The Dallas Zoo shows its appreciation to the community for its support with $1 admission all day and dollar deals throughout the park. Take the DART Red Line straight to the Zoo entrance to avoid the traffic and save the $7 per car parking fee.
Come have fun learning about nature and helping it out! This month we will learn about and look for cold blooded animals on a short walk outside while thinking cool thoughts. We may even get the opportunity to feed some of the cold blooded animals at our Visitors’ Center. This activity is geared for children 3-7 and their parents. $5 per child (with paid admission)/MEMBERS FREE.

While gardening, cleaning or enjoying a summer’s day, reptiles can often be observed in our backyards. Join us as we discuss what common reptiles might be visiting your backyard, what their diet consists of and unique behaviors they may exhibit. FREE (with paid admission). Two Sessions: 1 & 2 p.m.

Join our experienced Nature Center volunteer photographer Dave Morgan as he teaches you how to get that picture perfect photo. He will be discussing equipment, lighting and other aspects of photography. You will be amazed at his talent and will learn how to be better photographers. Across the night’s sky there are many stories being told. Join us as we navigate the evening sky and discuss the various constellations that are visible during the summer months and other celestial objects that may catch your eye. FREE (with paid admission). Programs are every :30 on the hour and half hour beginning at 1 p.m. with last session ending at 3 p.m.
