August Dollar Days at the Trinity River Audubon Center - Dallas

It’s hot. We all know that. It’s summer time in Texas. But that doesn’t mean you can’t
have fun outdoors. And, the Trinity River Audubon Center makes it even easier to do so
by reducing admission fees to only $1 – anytime, all the time, during August!

That’s right, all admission fees are reduced to $1 for the entire month. It doesn’t matter
whether you’re an adult, child, or senior. Whether you’re here to hike, study the exhibit
hall, or go birding. Your admission fee is ONLY $1. Any day, any time!

And, it’s a great time to take advantage. Why? Because the Center offers a little bit of
everything for the whole family. Like a little exercise – come hike our 4 – 5 miles of
trails. While you’re hiking, learn a bit about your local environment – the Great Trinity
Forest, the Trinity River, the Blackland prairie, and more.

Want to enjoy the cool indoors? Then explore our exhibit hall and examine turtles, fish,
and bullfrogs. Listen to bird calls, discover the power of water, and study the history of

White Rock Lake: An Inspiring Work of Art - Dallas

Photographs by J R Compton, Brian Hiltz, and Todd Landry.

"Beautiful," "enchanting," "mesmerizing," "a jewel in the heart of the city," "the people's playground." These are some of the superlatives and nicknames given to White Rock Lake throughout the years by the large number of people who have visited this magnificently scenic destination in Dallas. All of those people have been spellbound by the lake's beauty and grace and visual artists are no exception.

Painters spend afternoons at the lake painting a landscape, sculptors have found objects from nature for their sculptures at the lake, and young art students have gathered at the park to sketch and draw the natural surroundings.

Photographing the lake has brought joy to many artists, too, including the three photographers featured in this exhibition, J R Compton, Todd Landry, and Brian Hiltz. The three photographers have come to recognize White Rock Lake as a true ecological, recreational, and cultural treasure that possesses an exquisite and elegant presence that is worth capturing on film and digital photographic media.
