Environmental Triathlon - Wills Point

What: Big Earth Racing Spring/Fall Classic Sprint Triathlon
1/2 mile Swim, 23.8 mile Bike, 3.1 mile Run
Dan Lepinski's "Solar Shuttle" solar trailer will provide 100% solar electricity for the race needs (all timing clocks, public address systems, lights, communications, and more).
The Spring/Fall Classic event will host a recycling area, which will include companies recycling such items as athlete shoes, bike chains, athletic water bottles, tire tubes, cell phones - to name a few.

Where: REI Sports, 4515 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, Texas.
REI is on the westbound access road on the north side of I-635. We meet upstairs. Park at REI, go in the main entrance, and up the stairs. Turn to the left and follow the aisle all the way to the meeting rooms. There is also an elevator for anyone who may require it.

Nature Walk - Lewisville

Life at LLELA is always changing. Every season brings new animal signs, different blooms, or birds nesting, wintering, or winging their way north and south. Come explore with us on the Cicada Trail, the Cottonwood Trail, the Redbud Trail, or the Bittern Marsh Trail. All ages are welcome. There is a $2 program fee for the walk, in addition to the regular gate fee ($5/person). Reservations are requested, but not required; call 972-219-3930 or 972-219-7980.

Bird Walk - Lewisville

Over 270 species of birds have been recorded in the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area’s forests, prairies, and marshes. Bird watchers of all skill levels are welcome to join our master birders as they guide visitors to birding locations at LLELA. Some of the best spots are not normally available to the public, outside of a scheduled tour. Ages 10 and up. Nature en Espanol, "El Verano" - Ft Worth

Join a bilingual naturalist on a hike on the Refuge trails in search of interesting flora and fauna that adapt well to the Texas summer heat. Whether Spanish is your first or second language, this hike provides a great opportunity to learn or practice the Spanish language. $5 (with paid admission)/MEMBERS FREE.

Composting 101 - Garland

Making dark, rich, crumbly compost doesn't take much time, work or space. Learn the essentials including the composting process, hands on demonstration of how to build an active compost pile, and how worms can recycle food scraps into rich organic compost. Improve your soil, and your flowers and vegetables will thank you. Ages 16 and up. $20.
