City of Arlington: Grease for Greens Cooking Oil Collection - Arlington

Frying a turkey on Thanksgiving and wondering how to turn your used cooking oil into free golf? Store your used cooking oil in a sealed plastic container like a bottle and bring it to Tierra Verde Golf Course on Saturday, Dec. 6,  from 8 a.m.-noon. We will use your used cooking oil to create biodiesel to fuel the lawnmowers at Tierra Verde Golf Course, and we will raffle off free rounds of golf for participants. Dallas Sierra Club: Holiday Party - Dallas

Club members and guests will share the holiday spirit, some great Mexican food and the company of others at this annual event. Join us for some camaraderie, door prizes, silent auction and perhaps some surprise speakers, you never know. We'll celebrate some of our outstanding volunteers and have plenty of time to mingle. There's bound to be talk about issues of the day – air, water, fracking, coal, nuclear, whatever strikes your green fancy. The entire menu will be available so you can order whatever you want to eat or drink, including liquid spirits. We'll provide a free round of margaritas. Support the Club by getting a 2014 Sierra Club Calendar or Planner. Invite your family and friends. So come on out for a great party, low price, no clean up and lots of like minded people.

Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: Meet & Greet - Fort Worth

Join us for some good company and cheap eats! Tuesday is $1 burger night from 5 p.m. until closing, so you can chow down on a hamburger, turkey burger or Portobello burger for only a

Native Prairies Association of Texas Fort Worth Chapter - Bear Creek Ranch Hike - Fort Worth

Join the Fort Worth Chapter of Native Prairies Association for a hike at Bear Creek Ranch in Parker County. The 2,100-acre-ranch supports Fort Worth Prairie limestone glades, deep soiled tallgrass prairie and streamside forest. The ranch is managed by Dixon Water Foundation, which won the 2014 Lone Star Land Steward title for their management of the property.  

Directions from I-20 in Fort Worth: Exit I-20 at US Hwy 377 and go South. Continue on 377 for 13.6 miles to Kelly Rd. Turn right (West) on Kelly Rd. Continue on Kelly for .9 miles until you get to Bear Creek Rd, where you will turn left. Continue on Bear Creek Rd for 2.5 miles. At some point this becomes a gravel road. Keep going until you see an entrance on the left. (see satellite photo posted on this event page) Turn left and follow the signs to the pavillion. (This is a dirt road so don't wash your car before the hike) 

Bring plenty of water, appropriate shoes and wear long pants to walk the prairie.
