Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: Robert Kent of Trust for Public Land - Fort Worth

Robert Kent is the North Texas Area Director for the Trust for Public Land (TPL), a national nonprofit that creates parks and protects land for people, ensuring healthy, livable communities for generations to come. In November 2014, TPL opened its North Texas Area Office with Kent at the helm. He will present on the Lake Worth Greenprint, a recent TPL study of the Lake Worth watershed, as well as other TPL projects happening in the North Texas area.

Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: Carol Roark and Lon Burnam on Botswana - Fort Worth

Botswana has been called Africa's "Living Eden," and the Sierra Club International Outing that Carol Roark and Lon Burnam, both Fort Worth Sierra Club members, took there certainly confirmed the wonders that can be seen there. From the majesty of a herd of elephants walking through the brush, to a cheetah hunting, to the vibrant turquoise, purple and black of a lilac breasted roller, the photos and stories about this incredible land should not be missed.

Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club: Rita Beving on DFW Water - Fort Worth

Rita Beving, Outreach Coordinator for Clean Water Fund and Dallas Sierra Club member, will touch on DFW water planning and where our region is in the process for water planning, and our efforts underway to work with HOAs and neighborhood associations on water conservation. Rita will also give water-saving tips for all of us who want to help conserve water and save money. The speaker is followed by refreshments and announcements. All are welcome!

Botanical Research Institute of Texas: Agricultural College Day - Fort Worth

BRIT, along with the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, invites students and their families, to attend a college day designed for individuals interested in agricultural careers.

Fourteen representatives from leading agricultural colleges and universities will discuss class offerings, degree plans and financial aid opportunities. The event is open to the public and admission is free. 

The colleges and universities represented include: Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, Texas A&M Commerce University, Angelo State University, Sam Houston State University, Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M University, Abilene Christian University, Stephen F. Austin University, Sul Ross University, Prairie View A&M University, Louisiana State University, Tarleton State University and New Mexico State University.

DCCCD: Zero Waste & Resource Management Workshop - Irving

The workshop is hosted by North Lake College and Carbon Economy, as part of the DCCCD Sustainability Series.

Zero Waste businesses and organizations are creating more sustainable communities, and have diverted over 90% of their waste from landfill and incineration.

Globally recognized expert Gary Liss will be featured in the DCCCD Sustainability Series to share best practices, policies, and procedures for transitioning your business, municipality or non-profit organization into a community Zero Waste leader.

Any interested teacher or student that wants to build a high school solar car project in preparation for a Solar Car Challenge race.

How Many Can Attend?

Please limit your attendance to no more than ten students per school.
