Women in the Environment: Fort Worth Nature Center Tour - Fort Worth

Managing our natural resources is a complex job. Not only does the Fort Worth Nature Center ensure abundant recreational opportunities and the infrastructure that goes along with that; they also apply an array of land management techniques to improve the health of the diverse habitats present on the Refuge; specifically targeting wildlife habitat to ensure connectivity and health of the system. Staff and volunteers of the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge lend a helping hand as the designated stewards of the Refuge and the ecosystem services that it provides.

Get together for coffee and snacks while making plans for this month's actions (both local and national) in scheduling in-district meetings with Congressman Burgess & Sen. Cornyn as well as developing newspaper Letters to the Editor.

Ennis Garden Club: Bluebonnet Trails - Ennis (April 1-30)

From April 1-30, Ennis showcases over 40 miles of mapped driving Bluebonnet Trails sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club. These trails are the oldest such trails known in the state, and tens of thousands of visitors make the short trek to Ennis to view this wonderful wildflower show. In Ennis, the bluebonnets typically peak around the 3rd week of April, according to the Ennis Garden Club. This can vary year to year due to weather conditions and terrain, so check website or call 972-878-4748 before your visit.

Native Prairies Association of Texas Fort Worth Chapter: Fossil Hill Hike on Lake Amon Carter - Montague County

Fossil Hill research area:  This is a privately owned old-growth Cross Timbers woodland on a steep rocky headland overlooking Amon Carter Lake in southeast Montague County. You are encouraged to carpool, due to limited parking. Limit 10 participants. Time and meeting location details to follow.

Native Prairies Association of Texas Fort Worth Chapter: Barnett Ranch Field Trip - "Bovine & Bluestem" - Denton County

We will be viewing conserved native prairie lands and discussing the use of native prairie grasses as forage in the cattle ranching industry. Since 1888, this cattle ranch has been continuously operated by four generations of the Barnett family and is recognized by the Texas Historical Commission in their Family Land Heritage Program. 

This is a joint fieldtrip with the Trinity Forks chapter of NPSOT.
