Whether you’ve got lots of river time under your belt or have never set foot in a kayak, you’re welcome here! Kayak Power will provide equipment and instruction followed by a six-mile trip down the Elm Fork to a shuttle vehicle.

The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is home to several historic structures, most notably the Minor-Porter Log House, which dates to about 1869. Completely restored and furnished with all the trappings of everyday frontier life, the log house gives LLELA visitors a window on early Denton County history. Knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to guide visitors through the structures and answer questions in this informal tour. Visitors are welcome to arrive at any time during the open hours and tour at their own pace.

There is no additional fee for this activity beyond regular admission to LLELA ($5/person; children age 5 years and under free).

Life at LLELA is always changing. Every season brings new animal signs, different blooms, or birds nesting, wintering, or winging their way north and south. Come explore with us on the Cicada Trail, the Cottonwood Trail, the Redbud Trail, or the Bittern Marsh Trail.

All ages are welcome. There is a $2 program fee for the walk, in addition to the regular gate fee ($5/person).

Come and join us for an early morning hike around the Nature Center. Our goal is to see animals that are beginning their day and maybe a few stragglers that  are coming in from the night. This is a great opportunity to see one of our beautiful bucks or some of our curious winter birds.

One highlight of visiting the Nature Center is seeing the educational animals on display. These are working animals that visit local schools, community centers and libraries. For Spring Break, come and join us and learn about some of the animal ambassadors at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge.
