Stroll through the butterfly house and gardens then go inside for a book signing and Q & A session with Ms. Ajilvsgi, who works as a butterfly and plant specialist in Austin. Considered among the nation’s top plant and butterfly experts, she is the author of “Wildflowers of Texas” and “Butterfly Gardening for Texas.” Local butterfly expert Dale Clark will also be on hand to answer questions. The park features 5 miles of trails through wetlands, forest and prairie on the edge of the Great Trinity Forest.The site also offers great birding opportunities with the 60 resident bird species.
In addition, you can tour the 21,000-square-foot LEED-certified visitors center, which features educational exhibits and a nature store. Bring a lunch for the picnic area.
There are many ways for our members to participate. If you enjoy working outside among the trees or if you prefer research, the study of maps or working to help keep things organized and running smoothly, there is a place for you in the Dallas Historic Tree Coalition. No dues at this time.
The Dallas Arboretum decks out for the autumn with fall flowers as many as 50,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash to form the storybook pumpkin village. Take home a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Trick or treat during Family Fun Weekend Oct. 26-27.
