North Texas science marchers do their research with clever signs

Like a cold lab room, the weather was fittingly chilly and gray for the March for Science in DFW on Earth Day morning. And while the message was serious, there was plenty of heartwarming humor to be found at marches held in Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton and Sherman.

Earth Day Texas dives into ocean advocacy with new exhibits, keynote Sylvia Earle

This year, ocean health will be a focus of the festival with keynote speaker oceanographer and environmentalist Sylvia Earth, along with exhibits, film screenings and a dive pool from Go Dive Now.

Proposed disposal well near Lake Arlington to be discussed at public forum

A proposed disposal well near Lake Arlington is getting pushback from local municipalities and environmental groups in Tarrant County. As a result, State Representative Nicole Collier, who represents district 95, is hosting a forum to address the topic on Thursday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Handley Meadowbrook Community Center in Fort Worth.

Dallas native opens vegan cowboy boot store in Big D

Dallas native Kat Mendenhall opened MendRT, a vegan cowboy boot store, in the Design District. The store offers faux leather western fashion, expanding from her successful online business and features custom-made boots. Mendenhall aims to attract mainstream shoppers, despite most customers being from outside Texas.

LANCASTER – Elsie Robertson Lancaster Middle School STEM students dined on food they grew in the classroom at their Lettuce Harvesting Luncheon in March. The organic produce was grown using aquaponics; a skill that combines STEM disciplines – science, technology, engineering and math – and farming in order to raise fish and grow fresh produce without soil.

When it rains, it pours… bunnies. Spring deluges wash young cottontails out of their nests. Often found suffering from hyperthermia or gravely battered, they must be rushed to treatment if to survive, then raised to adulthood and released.
