McKinney greenie cooking with biogas

Evan Boehler of McKinney uses a Home Biogas system to convert kitchen waste into methane gas for cooking, reducing stove use. Developed by Israeli company Home Biogas, it’s an eco-friendly solution addressing food waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and providing renewable energy and fertilizer for global environmental and health benefits.

Local activists from Citizens’ Climate Lobby were upbeat after returning from CCL’s annual June Lobby Day in Washington. Earlier this month, they joined 1,300 volunteers from the nonprofit on its annual trek to DC to lobby Congress for climate action. 

Demonstrators gearing up for annual clash with ExxonMobil

Demonstrators will protest outside ExxonMobil’s annual shareholder meeting at the Myerson Symphony Center in Dallas on May 30, highlighting climate change issues and Exxon’s inadequate response to shareholder resolutions. The protest is led by 350Dallas and supported by various advocacy groups concerned about Exxon’s community impact and fossil fuel dependency.

Anti-fracking documentary wins top prize at EarthxFilm 

The EarthxFilm festival awarded its top prize to *Unfractured*, a documentary directed by Chanda Chevannes about biologist-turned-activist Sandra Steingraber. Highlighting the human cost of activism, the film supports grassroots anti-fracking efforts, notably in Texas, with Chevannes dedicating the award to Liveable Arlington.

EarthX puts solar energy in spotlight

Cedar Hill, Texas, earned a Gold designation from Solsmart for solar friendliness, alongside Austin and El Paso. Recognized for sustainable practices, Cedar Hill applied for this in January and advanced solar adoption, benefiting consumers through ordinance updates and local partnerships, successfully fostering over 100 residential solar installations.

Climate change in North Texas to be addressed at free symposium

The North Texas Climate Change Symposium on March 9 at Belo Mansion in Dallas is a free event hosted by the city and the Dallas Bar Association to educate attendees on local climate issues.
