Association (NTCRA) for their annual celebration of North Texas
environmental leaders and their contributions toward a more sustainable
environment in the North Texas region.
Registration for the workshop (below) is separate from the NTCRA

The workshop will be presented by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) formerly known as R.W. Beck and the purpose of the workshop is to help businesses and governments better understand the reasons for recycling and operational issues (e.g. contamination). Modules to be addressed in the workshop include:
- Keeping momentum
- Value of conducting waste audits:
- Definition of a building waste stream audit and the main objectives
- Definition of generation points and the value they provide
- Important things to know before conducting a waste audit
- Common building management concerns regarding audits and recycling
- How to tailor a building waste audit to meet your needs
- Common recoverable material found during building waste audits
- Commercially used recyclable container options available
- Analysis of data gathered during building waste audits
- Motivators to encourage commercial and institutional recycling
- Examples and case studies of building waste audits
- Reasons to recycle: Environmental results, decrease the need for raw materials, energy savings
- Avoiding contamination: Representatives from local MRFs will be invited to participate on a panel discussion
- Closing the loop: businesses can also impact the industry through their purchasing requirements (recycling content), on-site recycling for staff, etc.
