All About Composting - Plano

Is your yard work piling up? Let it! Learn the basics of turning that garden debris into garden gold through composting. We cover what to put in, what to leave out, and how to mix, moisten, and manage your way to successful soil enrichment. Wear your best diggin' duds to pitch in to build a compost pile. $5.

Fishing Camp (10-15 yrs) - Plano

Kids ages 10-15 will learn basic fishing techniques at this week-long camp. Instructor will teach how to tie a hook, handle fish, and remove a fish from the hood. Students will also learn the proper way to cast a bait caster reel and will discover what types of baits to use in different situations. The camp will spend time reviewing fishing safety standards. Campers will venture to area lakes to develop basic fishing skills. Students will need to bring their own fishing gear, bait, a sack lunch, and drink every day. $65. Tuesday-Friday, July 5-8, 7:30am-12:30pm.

Renewable Energy and High Performance Building Design Workshop - Dallas

Because our buildings have such a profound impact on our lives, the way we live is changing. The manner in which we use our buildings, their architectural design and how they are constructed necessitates a change to a more sustainable approach.

This class provides an interactive discussion where a panel of subject matter experts and you, the participants, will discuss renewable energy and high-performing green buildings. The class will conclude with a discussion of future building codes, standards, and government regulations, which will answer the question "What industry changes are pending?"
