Landscape designer and author Bonnie Reese of Beautiful Landscapes will be the speaker at both sessions. The first 100 attendees at each session will receive a copy of Ms. Reese’s book, “Common-Sense Landscaping.” Attendees can also enter a drawing for free bags of Green Sense organic fertilizer from Rohde’s Nursery and Nature Store.

3rd Saturday Tour: Texas SmartScape® Workshop - Plano

Learn about green living from local experts and then tour the Environmental Education Center, Plano's only LEED Platinum certified building. 

At this 3rd Saturday Tour & Talk, attendees will learn how to reduce use of water, pesticides and fertilizers by landscaping with native and adapted plants.

Food Waste Composting - Plano

Don't let the worms crawl in and the worms crawl out -- put them to work! We'll teach you to use specialized red worms to compost your food waste. These use their waste as a fertile soil amendment to benefit your plants. Learn to set up and maintain a worm bin, and to harvest and use the worm castings.

Building a Local, Interfaith Eco-Network in Tarrant County - Fort Worth

Texas is a big state. In order to provide an effective religious response to our environmental challenges, we need local teams on the ground in cities and regions across the state.

The Rocky Mountain Institute, established in 1982, is a self-described "non-profit think-and-do tank" whose current strategic focus is "Reinventing Fire," which aims at "mapping and driving the business-led transition from fossil fuels to efficiency and renewable energy" by 2050.
 
RMI will be in Dallas the day after Earth Day to collaborate with the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture for an evening symposium emphasizing the cultural impact of this timely and critical issue.

The Root Awakening - White Rock Lake - Dallas

The Root Awakening. Dedicated to spreading awareness about environmental conservation.
 
Organized by two senior students at the school for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center, class of 2012. They are officers of "S.A.G.A." (Students Against Global Abuse), the first enviromental organization at their school.
 
These two students helped to organize the first recycling system at their school, and established a partnership with the local non-profit organization "For the Love of the Lake." Since then, they've been the student voices for this organization, encouraging peer participation every Saturday cleaning up White Rock Lake.
 
They are trying to raise awareness about environmental conservation by hosting a festival near white rock lake and bringing our community together for the environmental cause.
 
The festival will take place March 24th, 2012 from 9 AM to 1 PM at Flag Pole Hill near White Rock Lake, 8100 Doran Circle. Dallas, TX.
