This group exhibition is inspired by the Greek Proverb, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” The exhibition will feature work by 40 artists, benefiting the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center.
A Passion for Texas Native Trees Talk by Tary Arterburn, Principal, studioOustide, will be held Aug. 31, at 7 p.m.
Exhibit runs through Sept. 16.
At the semiannual YardSmart seminar, attendees will hear from well-known local experts on topics such as winter vegetables, trees and composting. Attendees can question a panel of experts about gardening issues during the Ask the Experts session. A garden tour will follow at 1 p.m.

Grasses, often the most common plants in any given landscape, are also some of the most overlooked, underappreciated and misunderstood members of the plant world. Grasses, however, are what makes the prairie a prairie. They are an essential component of savannas, and they even occupy the understory of woodlands and forests. This workshop will provide an introduction to the world of grasses that are found in the prairies, savannas and woodlands of North Texas. The focus will be on field identification of grasses by their distinguishing physical characteristics.
Would you like some locally-collected native seed that is not available in the marketplace? Or do you have some you'd like to share? Bring your seed and we'll bring ours and we'll mix and match seed. We'll even have a limited supply of milkweed seed to share! Join us as we learn about native grass and wildflower seed identification, swap seeds and mix-about.
Kim Martin and Laurie Bostic of Barking Cat Farm present this fun and informative class for those who are ready to grow their own food but wish they knew more about the subject. This class will cover a range of topics that will help the beginning vegetable gardener be successful growing their own food organically.
