White Rock Local Market + Chef Demo - Dallas

This Saturday, June 23,  White Rock Local Market hosts a celebrity chef demo exploring how to cook for our pickiest critics - kids! (or any other sceptic). Using only market ingredients, chefs Chad Houser and Randall Copeland will be challenged to make the healthiest foods as tasty as a box of donuts - wait, maybe they'll even use a few from vendor Hypnotic Donuts! You'll have to come see to find out.

Produce is plentiful now, too, with new LOCAL organic vendors 3 Forks Farms, Pure Land Organics, Peachy Page and East Dallas' IRC Garden joining Larken, Lightsey, Farmer Jones, Texas Worm Ranch, Rae Lilli, Grapevine Grains, Fruth Farms, Juha Ranch, Texas Olive Ranch, and the rest. Come get the seasons best peaches, blueberries, tomatoes, squash, garlic and more.

How Birds Work

Join our monthly FREE Third Thursday event.

We’ll have guided hikes and animal encounters throughout the day.  Evening activities include: Special guest speaker,Dr. Patty McGill, director of Dogwood Canyon and Trinity River Audubon Centers presenting How Birds Work at 7PM.

From singing to swimming, from incredible powers of sight and hearing to the extraordinary ability to soar through the sky, birds are amazing.  But how do they achieve these incredible feats? Join us for a closer look at the bird body and the physical adaptations that allow birds to migrate great distances, navigate through the night sky, and return to the same wintering and breeding grounds each year.

At 8PM accompany Audubon Texas, Director of Education, Ben Jones, into the Great Trinity Forest on an Owl Prowl.

Prairie Fest - Fort Worth

Fort Worth Prairie Fest is the annual fundraiser for Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area. Learn more about how funds are plowed back into Tandy Hills HERE.

Prairie Fest grew from a small neighborhood event in 2006 to become the “Best Outdoor Cultural Event in 2010”, according to the Fort Worth Weekly. By 2011, Prairie Fest had attracted hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors to Tandy Hills.

A re-imagined festival is taking flight in 2012

For 2012, Prairie Fest has been re-imagined and re-focused back to discovery and enjoyment of Tandy Hills, itself. Instead of a single event, there will be three festivalsthroughout the Spring on the last Saturdays of March, April and May. Event hours will be from 4 PM - Dusk. We call it Prairie Festx3.

March 31 * April 28 *May 26
