TOFGA’s Farmers Education Series - Sunset

Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association presents this workshop designed for anyone interested in farming or gardening. Topics include soils and compost, poultry management, farm equipment demos, certified naturally grown program, crop rotation and pasture management, marketing, land availability and resources. Farm tour included. Bring your own brown bag lunch. $25/TOFGA members, $35/non-TOFGA members.

Plano Downtown International Festival

This family-friendly celebration features opportunities to explore nearly 100 cultures through an ethnic food court, multicultural music and dance performances, cultural displays, original works or art by local artists, and a host of free, hands-on educational activities for children and a green village.

The Plano International Festival aims to be a Zero Waste event. It was awarded the 2008, 2010 and 2011 City of Plano EnvironmentalStar of Excellence Award and was a Green Source DFW Environmental Leadership Awards Finalist.

Harvest Hike HootnHowl - Southlake

This free event offers lots of animals provided by the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, Westland Ranch Petting Zoo and Matt Morris’ turtles. You can explore the beautiful Nature Center & Preserve through docent-led and self-guided hikes highlighting trail activities such as the Corn Fling, Pumpkin Ring Toss, and Build-a-Bug - just to name a few. Other activities include games and music by Radio Disney, storytelling, outdoor demonstrations, the Southlake Fire Department and the first annual Coyote Howling Contest. Free caramel apples, popcorn and cider will be available while supplies last. Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase. Free parking with shuttle service or walking paths will be available from the Equestrian Center at Bob Jones Park. Handicap Parking is available on a first-come basis at the Bob Jones Nature Center & Preserve.
