Waxahachie Green Garden Club: Growing Green Naturally Symposium - Waxahachie

Enjoy a full day of gardening classes, lunch and unique shopping at the marketplace.

Topics will include native plant selection, landscape design, soil health & biology, aquaponic gardening, Olla pots and using herbs for their healing qualities. Opening keynote speaker, Steven Chamblee, chief horticulturist for Chandor Gardens, will kick off the event discussing "Prickles, Petals, People; Finding Your Own Ecological Niche.” Using a palette of Texas Native Plants, Steven explores the relationships and commonalities of people & plants in this light & lively program designed to inform, intrigue and inspire gardeners and naturalists alike.

A boxed lunch from Ann’s Health Foods will be served.

Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association: TREIA Statewide Conference - Dallas

At Texas Renewables 2014, we will explore today’s energy landscape, give a nod to how we got here, acknowledge the significant contribution the  renewable energy industry is making, and discuss the very real role it will play and challenges it will face in shaping Texas’ energy future

Attendees, in the company of hundreds of colleagues old and new, will have the opportunity to hear and meet dozens of distinguished and accomplished speakers who are deep in the fray. Their experience and perspectives will matter as we continue pursuit of a critical and ever growing share of this state’s energy mix.

Eden's Organic Garden Center: Feed the Community Watch Party & Mini Veterans Day Film Festival - Balch Springs

Count down to the end of our fund raiser - Save the Date! Details coming....

In conjunction with our Count down watch party, Eden's is hosting a mini film festival in honor of Veteran's Day. 

Films will begin upon darkness - around 6:30. (bring a lawnchair or blanket - it's outside on the farm.) 

We'll be showing the film Terra Firma (http://terrafirmafilm.com/) a film about "3 women vets returning home who found ways to heal the hidden wounds of war through farming."  

Time & weather permitting, we'll also show Ground Operations, (http://www.groundoperations.net/) a film that "champions the growing network of combat veterans who are transitioning into careers as sustainable farmers, ranchers and artisan food producers."

Vets get in no charge. Door fee to help cover screening - $2 contribution to the Feed the Soil - Feed the Community campaign. Payable either in advance at tickets link or at the door. 

 

Concessions proceeds to benefit local grass rots veterans group - TBA.
