Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area: Star Party - Fort Worth

After many years at the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History, the well-attended, monthly public star parties presented by the Fort Worth Astronomical Society (FWAS) have moved to Tandy Hills Natural Area.

Established in 1949, FWAS is one of the first adult amateur astronomy clubs formed in the country and one of the largest with more than 200 active members.

Members will have several telescopes set up at Tandy Hills for viewing the night sky.

Endurance Buzz Adventures: Fossil Valley Night Run - Dallas

Run as far as you want in a unique community setting for 3, 6, or 9 hours.

3-person Team Relay (9 hour only) – Get together a team of 3 friends (any gender). Run one loop. Hand off the timing chip. Chillax until the rest of your team has each ran a loop. Repeat. (*The relay race category is not eligible for Texas Trail Running Championship Series points.)

Friends of O.S. Gray Natural Area: Community Day - Arlington

This month we will be cleaning up some of our trails, clipping some privet, working on our butterfly and wildflower beds, and our host plant bed. Please bring your gardening tools, work gloves, or litter picker upper. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and for working in a natural area (long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes, hat). Water and snacks will be provided. O.S. Gray Natural Area has no restroom facilities, but Kroger is near by.

Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area: Night Hike - Lewisville

Experience the wonders of nature at night as a guide leads you on a leisurely stroll through twilight trails. Howling coyotes, hooting owls and other nocturnal sounds will provide an out-of-the-ordinary hiking experience. Flashlights aren't necessary. Trail locations vary depending on the season and other conditions. Hike distance is under 2 miles.

Participation may require the ability to stand and walk at a leisurely pace for 2 hours.  Please remember to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, bring a water bottle, and some hikers wear long sleeves and/or bug spray.
