Environmental Organization or Group

Organizers have booth spaces open for crafters who would like to offer for sale their crafts made of recycled items. There is a $30 fee for a 10-foot-by-10-foot space. 

Additionally, there are several free spaces open for non-profit environmental groups to pass out information about their organizations, their projects, their issues. These spaces are 10 feet by 10 feet, but we do encourage organizations to share with another compatible group. Sales, however, are not allowed.

The annual even provides free entertainment and educational activities for the entire family. Master gardener booths at the festival will cover topics such as propagation, lawn care, designing a water-wise landscape, herb growing, worm composting and a dozen other topics. Seminars on gardening will be offered in classroom areas, including “Perennial Gardening” by Marilyn Simmons and “Transitioning from Sprinkler to Drip” by Patrick Dickinson.

 Live entertainment will be provided by the Flower Mound Community Orchestra, Voices of Flower Mound, Studio B Performing Arts Center, Texas Harmony Chorus (Sweet Adelines) and Dallas Tap Dazzlers. Vendors will offer hand-crafted items and information about maintaining a sustainable environment.

Fifth annual event benefitting the Connemara Conservancy. Dinner under the stars, featuring drinks, live music, dancing and auction. $200.

The Native Prairies Association of Texas Dallas Chapter now has a name: Blackland Native Prairie Association of Texas (BNPAT). This newly formed chapter is a branch of the Native Prairies Association of Texas and will represent 13 Blackland counties: Collin, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Henderson, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Navarro, Rains, Rockwall and Van Zandt. 

At this meeting, members will be asked to give input on projects, workshops, field trips and other activities that they would like implemented in the coming year.

Women in the Environment, a DFW-based networking and educational organization for women pursuing environmental careers, is having their annual Art with RePurpose event on Sept. 11.   

It will feature unique eco-art and jewelry for sale made with recycled, repurposed, upcycled, sustainable and organic materials. 

There will be food, wine and a silent auction.

$10-$20/pre-reg by Aug.31, $15-$25/at door.

Donations can be made 6 a.m. to midnight to more than 1,600 certified nonprofits listed on www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org, including 56 local environmental advocacy groups. Donations of $25 and above will be amplified by $2 million in bonus funds and prizes.

The North Texas Corporate Recycing Association and the Greater DFW Recycling Alliance have joined forces to present the North Texas Recycling Awards. Guest speaker Damon Carson, owner and founder of Repurposed Materials. $45/members, $75/nonmembers. $400/member table of 10.

Dale Edelbaum of the Dallas Sierra Club will share stories and photos of his 17-day dory boat trip down the Grand Canyon, covering 221 miles from Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek. Along the way, the river ranged from smooth drifting to enormous rapids. Dale camped along the river and hiked many side canyons. His pictures are enchanting and set to music. The speaker is followed by refreshments and announcements.

Volunteers needed the third Saturday of each month (except June, July, August & December) to help plant, mulch and weed nursery trees. Wear closed toe shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Water, safety glasses tools provided.
