Habitat Restoration & Trail Maintenance - Dallas

Habitat Restoration & Trail Maintenance at Cedar Ridge Preserve from 9 am - 11 am, rain or shine. Volunteers remove non-native plants, restore trails, and work in the butterfly garden. Repairing trails reduces erosion trouble spots and removing non-native plants clears crowded trail edges. We'll provide snacks, water, pruning shears, shovels, and work gloves. Put on your flip flops and sunglasses and join us for a beach bash as we celebrate the Grand Finale Weekend of the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration. Party is hosted by For the Love Of The Lake with support from White Rock Lake Foundation and Friends of the Bath House. In appreciation of Ebby Halliday as honorary chair of the Centennial Celebration.

Tickets - $15 adults, $5 kids

White Rock Lake Centennial Bike Ride - Dallas


June 11, 2011, 9am-1pm

Make plans to enjoy a fabulous day of Texas springtime cycling down to and around our own White Rock Lake celebrating its 100 year birthday. The Greater Dallas Bicyclists, together with the Centennial Host Committee will host the White Rock Lake Centennial Bike Ride.

The riders will travel by bike to TP Hill on the west side of the lake meeting at 10 a.m. to make a commemorative lap around the lake. Booths with beverages and food will open at 11 a.m. with music by  Cameron Ernst.

Ride to the lake on the route of your choice or you may go to the Greater Dallas Bicyclists website listed above to select one of several groups is planning to ride to ride down to the lake together.

Donations welcomed and because of the community's participation, Greater Dallas Bicyclists is proud to donate funds raised to the White Rock Lake Centennial Fund.

Preschool Discovery Club - Ft Worth

We invite preschoolers, ages 3 - 5 and their adult companions to join us in discovering the exciting world of nature. In June, we will be learning about turtles. Pre-registration required. $10 PER CHILD (includes admission fee)/MEMBERS $5.

Canoe Tour - Ft Worth

Tour a stretch of the West Fork of the Trinity River to view ducks, herons, beaver and other critters. Sunscreen, water and weather appropriate clothing (including shoes that can get wet) are recommended. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are provided. Children must be 5 years or older. Parents must sign a liability waiver for minor children. Some previous experience recommended. Registration ends Thursday preceding or when filled. Maximum - 12 participants. Meet at Big River Parking Lot. Pre-registration required. $20 (includes admission fee)/MEMBERS $15.

Evening Stroll With a Naturalist: Come and enjoy an evening stroll on the Nature Center’s trails as we explore nature before nightfall. Evening provides a unique opportunity to view animals that make the Nature Center home. Bring water and wear weather appropriate clothing. Organic Soil Prep, Garden Installation & Maintenance - Ft Worth

*Native Texas Garden Series, Organic Soil Preparation, Garden Installation, and Maintenance:

Learn how to prepare and maintain your soil organically in order to grow native plants and your lawn. We will also cover garden installation of flagstone, boulders and other hardscape elements. A yearly maintenance checklist will be provided covering mulch, year end cleanup, shrub, tree and ornamental grass maintenance and irrigation. Class is geared for adults. FREE (with paid admission).
