Learn basic birding techniques on this guided hike where participants can see up to 30-plus species. Bring binoculars, field guides, sunscreen and insect repellent. Wear long pants, closed-toed shoes. All ages welcome. Free.
Join Texas Master Naturalist Jim Varnum for the Winter Tree Walk. Pecan, Bur Oak, Hackberry, Elm. These are just four of the 30-plus trees at Connemara Meadow. Conservation has traditionally been focused on preserving intact habitats and landscapes. However, there is a growing recognition that conservation begins at home, which for the majority of Texans is one of our rapidly growing cities or suburbs. Dr. Homayoun will discuss the need for urban conservation in Texas and introduce Audubon Texas’s Urban Conservation Program, its place in Audubon’s Bird Friendly Communities initiative, and how it can support Audubon Chapter and partner projects at the local level.
