Cyclovia de Dallas - Dallas

Dallas is celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the Houston Street Viaduct with a ciclovia!

Ciclovia is:
A chance to experience a place without cars and meet new friends.  Streets are closed off to auto traffic – bikes, trikes, skaters, roller bladers and walkers take over!

At Cyclovia de Dallas, an event organized by BFOC and the City of Dallas, the Houston Street Bridge will be off limits to cars and trucks while pedestrians, cyclists, skateboarders and other non-motorized travelers practice greener ways of getting around.

The bridge connects Oak Cliff to downtown Dallas and will be closed to motorists during the event, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.

Activities will include kite flying, line dancing, bicycle races, skateboarding, live music, yoga, a bicycle safety rodeo, an urban market, healthy food trucks, a dog park, and more.

The Viaduct is an easy walk from Downtown via Houston Street.  Parking is abundant and DART’s Union Station has service from all lines.

A subsequent program, planned for Spring 2012, will focus on electrical energy transmission, utilization and efficiency.
