Pumpkin collection highlights need for more waste diversion

On Dec. 1, Cowboy Compost set up five locations around Fort Worth to collect pumpkins from residents. Thanks to the city's Park and Recreation Department, we had collection points at two recreation centers, two parks as well as SiNaCa Studios on Magnolia Avenue. Altogether, we collected about 11,600 pounds of pumpkins or almost six tons!

Memnosyne cofounder honored at United Nations

Mary Ann Thompson-Frenk, Memnosyne Institute cofounder, received the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Civic Pioneer Award at the UN for innovative global and cultural activism, social empowerment, and charity work. She spoke on “Social Impact Investing” and expressed gratitude for support received in her pursuit of positive global impact.

Local greenies to be feted at Green Source DFW Awards

Celebrate local environmental heroes at the 7th annual Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards on Nov. 15 at the Dallas Arboretum. Categories include Environmental Reporting, Innovation, Conservation Activist, Green Project, and Volunteer of the Year. The event features dinner, entertainment, and specialty awards.

Finalists announced for 2018 GSDFW awards

Finalists for the 2018 Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards were announced after public voting ended on Sept. 30. A panel will select winners in each category, to be revealed on Nov. 15 at the Dallas Arboretum event. Sponsorships remain available.

Opinion: DFW business leaders to Congress: Act on climate!

North Texas business leaders urge Congress to implement a CO2 price, promoting economic opportunities and sustainability. The Citizens’ Climate Lobby promotes a market-based proposal with a national CO2 fee, revenue return to households, and border adjustment. Broad support exists, with bipartisan interest in Congress, encouraging local leaders to advocate for carbon pricing.
