'Summer Splash' to support DFW water advocacy group

The Clean Water Fund's DFW office hosts "Summer Splash" on June 21, 5:30-8 p.m., at Stoney's Wine Lounge, Dallas, benefiting water conservation advocacy. Last year, the group halted a fracking license by Lake Lewisville and is opposing a disposal well near Lake Arlington this year.

The University of North Texas is known as “Mean Green” in sports but the moniker has come to refer the campus’ ambitious environmental initiatives. This spring, the university demonstrated its committment to green policies when it switched to 100 percent renewable energy.

New interactive map orients hikers at Oak Cliff Nature Preserve

The Texas Land Conservancy launched an interactive smartphone-accessible map for Oak Cliff Nature Preserve to help hikers navigate its complex trails. Debuting on National Trails Day, June 3, the map aims to prevent confusion and attract more visitors to the urban Dallas park featuring trails, creeks, and diverse ecosystems.

New North Texas environmental coalition to lead ExxonMobil rally

The Coalition for Environmental Justice - North Texas is hosting the ExxonMobil Shareholders Meeting Protest on May 31 in Dallas to highlight climate change. Formed in February, CEJ-NTX unites various environmental groups against corporate influence and fossil fuel interests, aiming to become a political voice for necessary change.

Dallas artist finds urban blight 'littered' with beauty, lessons

A local artist wants us to take a closer look at litter. That’s why she blew up her images of artfully arranged trash to larger than life size. A collection of Dallas artist Sally Warren’s trash collages can be seen in her current exhibit Convenience Store, now on view at the Liliana Bloch Gallery in Dallas, through June 17.
