Botanical Research Institute of Texas program teaches teens to be green leaders

Green Revolution is a program geared to students in 6th through 12th grade in Fort Worth ISD.

History tells us that since the beginning of time, man has wanted to belong, especially young people. Green Revolution, a program developed in 2012 by the Botanical Research Institute of Texas in Fort Worth, and funded by Rainwater Charitable Foundation and grants, teaches students, ages 12 through 18, to belong environmentally.

Cedar Hill’s Beautification and Environmental Sustainability Board has set a lofty cleanup goal for the city.  Recently the board challenged residents and businesses to pick up one million pieces of litter between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31 in a campaign it’s calling Bitter for Litter

Fort Worth City Council to consider proposed fee for Botanic Garden

The Fort Worth City Council is considering an entrance fee for the Fort Worth Botanic Garden to fund infrastructure repairs and enhancements. The garden faces financial challenges, with $1.5 million unmet operational needs yearly and $15 million in capital repair delays.

There's plenty of Texas lore to read in The Texas Landscape Project: Nature and People but environmentalists, Texas history buffs and geography lovers alike will enjoy just perusing its maps, aerial views and historic photos. The richly illustrated 500-page environmental history atlas was published by Texas A&M University Press in June.

A group of Dallas building industry leaders have joined forces to make downtown Dallas more eco-friendly with the launch of a local chapter of the 2030 District. The group is one of 13 chapters of the Seattle-based nonprofit whose mission is to promote urban sustainability nationwide.
