Eco-conscious coworking takes root in Dallas

GoodWork, a mixed-use development in Dallas’s Cedars District, embodies sustainable coworking. TreeHouse opening store in Plano this week

Austin-based TreeHouse is opening its third location in Plano on January 18. Specializing in eco-friendly home improvement, TreeHouse targets suburban homeowners with products for smart home upgrades, solar power, and sustainable materials. Cofounder Jason Ballard recommends healthier home changes, emphasizing air and water filtration, nontoxic cookware, and eco-friendly products.

A chain link fence in the Bishop Arts District in Dallas recently got an eco-friendly makeover. The once drab border surrounding an apartment complex construction site at 305 Melba Street now sports a vibrant underwater scene made from discarded materials. As a result, a colorful seahorse, toothy shark, trailing seaweed, undulating waves and stylish school of fish is drawing smiles and compliments from local residents.

Arlington environmentalists snag grand prize at July 4th parade

The Arlington Conservation Council finally had its day in the sun at the Arlington Fourth of July parade last week. Beating out 150 entries, the 40-plus-year-old environmental group took home the Grand Prize at the 52nd annual Arlington July 4th parade. The nonprofit also won for Best Noncommercial Float.

Artist paints mod mural in rural Collin County

A Texas artist recently created some interesting roadside art for residents and drivers through Collin County. 

Houston-born Nathan Randall Green was hired by Light Farms to create the abstract mural at its 1,070-acre master-planned community in Celina, Texas.

The community, developed by Republic Property Group, already includes progressive amenities such as hiking and biking trails, a greenbelt system, a fitness center and a bike-sharing program.
